SOLO ACOUSTIC TOUR 96
PARIS ZENITH FEBRUARY 26th

The concert is just done. And one more time, I am on my knees. Alone on stage with your black Takamine. What a challenge ! I remember how I was afraid when a few weeks ago I learned that you was on tour but for the first time of your life alone and acoustic ! The tickets would be sold -four days later !- only in Paris and only at Louvres’s Virgin Megastore. Saturday morning I wake up, take a cup of coffee, jump in my car, ride straight ahead to Paris on highway 4 -only 30 kilometers-. I parked my car at Palais Royal and run to the Louvres, I was a few minutes late. I remembered that it was a real lightly day, with blue sky and an early winter sun. It was so early 9 o’clock is early for a big town ! that I was persuade to be almost the first to buy tickets, like a few year before when I did the same kind of thing for your “tunnel of love” tour. Almost no cars in the Rivoli street. Sure I had this time a place close to the stage.

What a surprise when I saw the queue ! Hundreds of people waiting at 9.05 AM ! Did they sleep here ? Some tickets were already sold -I crossed three smiling US students proudly showing their tickets-. They probably open the door’s store earlier. So I wait an hour and an half -it was not so boring, talking with other fans of your passed concerts, like veterans of Rock an Roll wars-. For the first times too -an old idea- I bought tickets for the two shows. I will be curious to know how many fans would do the same ? So, come back to the present.

The concert is over, the crowd goes out slowly and your big limousine probably brings you back to a restaurant or to your hotel. Magic is going on : Snow is falling on Paris (we are not in NY, it’s real rare over there!) and I just can believe that I got a video tape -Thanks to my small Sony video tape recorder- of the entiere concert! I respect you to much to put this recording on the web so I use it on a strickly personnal way. But In still got an old dream, you used demo tapes -with a not so good sound- to realise your "Nebraska" why could you use MY recording for an equivalent in video. I read on a Dave Marsh interview how much you regret not to have pictures from your acoustic Tom Joad Tour...
